Leg warmers are such a cute Fall/Winter accessory! They can really pull an outfit together, or add a pop of color. They can be worn pulled up to your calf, or scrunched around your ankle.
I have been known to wear mine all summer while in the house…my ankles hurt from the cold air conditioning….just me? haha
I also wear them to keep my ankles warm while doing aerial yoga. So they are perfect for dance, yoga, or gymnastics!
I originally used Lion Brand Scarfie yarn, and while it is a Weight 5 yarn, I feel is works up more like a Weight 4. Most Weight 4 yarns will work well for this pattern also. I tried the pattern using Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek Solids in Hot Pink, and it worked up perfectly! I posted the pictures below.

MATERIALS
- 1 skein of Lion Brand Scarfie– Bulky/Weight 5 (78% Acrylic/22% Wool, 312 yards/285 meters), or a Weight 4 yarn that meets gauge.
- Hook US K/6.5MM
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: EASY
GAUGE
- Finished ribbed band (not stretched)= 5”
5 mini bean sts= 4”
12 pattern rows= 4”
PATTERN KEY
- ch=chain, st(s)=stitch(es), sl st=slip stitch, sc=single crochet, BLO= back loop only, FLO=front loop only
SPECIAL STITCHES
- Mini Bean stitch – Insert hook into the stitch, pull up a loop so that you have two loops on your hook. Yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch, pull up a loop so that you have four loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all four loops. Chain one to close the stitch.
NOTES
- Ch stitches do not count as a stitch
INSTRUCTIONS
Ch 7.
Row 1: Sl st into each st across – 6 sl st
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sl st in BLO across – 6 sl st
Row 3-64: Repeat row 2- 6 sl st
Join ends by folding ribbing in half. Sl st across in FLO of row 64 and beginning ch sts – 6 Sl st
Turn so that you are working into the sides of the ribbing.
Round 1: Ch 1, work 32 sc evenly around (every other st). Sl st to first sc to join. -32 sc
Round 2: Ch 2, work a mini bean stitch in the first st, skip 1 st, [work a mini bean stitch in next
st, skip 1 st] 15 times. Sl st to beginning ch 2 – 16 mini bean sts
Round 3: Ch 2, turn, work a mini bean stitch in the top of the mini bean stitch from previous
round (see Image 1), [skip 1 st, work a mini bean stitch in the next st] 15 times. Sl st to beginning ch 2 –16 mini bean sts
Round 4-32: Repeat round 3 – 16 mini bean sts
Round 33: Ch 1, sc in next 32 sts. Sl st to first sc – 32 sc
Fasten off and weave in ends.
