Welcome to my crochet corner! As an avid crocheter, I’ve spent countless hours perfecting my craft and exploring various tools and accessories to enhance my crochet experience. Whether you’re a seasoned crochet enthusiast or just starting on this wonderful journey, I’m excited to share my favorite crochet tools and accessories that have made a significant difference in my projects. As an Amazon affiliate, I’ll provide links to each product, so you can easily explore and purchase them if they catch your eye.

Crochet Hooks:

Let’s start with the most essential tool for every crocheter: the crochet hook. If you are a just starting out, you will learn which brand you work with best.

My personal favorites are these Susan Bates hooks.

If you are more of a Boye fan, this set is great!

These large Susan Bates hooks are a must have if you enjoy working with bulky yarn!

A game changer for working with the dreaded black yarn or for those nights when you say “Just one more row”….LIGHT UP Hooks!

Yarn Winder:

Untangling yarn and dealing with messy skeins can be quite frustrating. That’s where a yarn winder comes in handy! This nifty tool helps you wind your yarn into neat and organized cakes, making it easier to work with and store. The Knit Picks Hand Operated Yarn Ball Winder is an excellent choice! I have used it for years with no issue!

I use my yarn winder most often after I buy a beautiful hank or skein of yarn from my local yarn shop. Which bring us to the next must have…

Yarn Swift:

My local yarn shop will do it for me, but I find it fun to use a yarn swift and makes me feel like a professional! It’s also great when ordering yarn in hanks online. Once it’s on the swift, you can easily use your yarn winder to put it into a yarn cake. This yarn swift is my favorite, because it is easy to use and folds up into a compact case.

Yarn Bowl:

A yarn bowl is not only a beautiful decor piece, but it also keeps your yarn balls neat and under control. My favorite is this wooden yarn bowl.

Crochet Project Bag:

A dedicated crochet project bag is a must-have for any crocheter on the go. It keeps all your tools and yarn in one place, making it convenient to carry your projects wherever you go (even if that is just from the couch to the bed). For multiple or larger projects (or storing my WIPs in) I like these 2 options.

For projects that use multiple colors, this is my go-to…The Mekbok Knit Bag. It has 6 clear compartments, that each hold a skein. This keeps your yarn clean and tangle free! It also has a lot of other handy compartments and a shoulder strap.

This durable canvas bag from Craftiss has an adjustable divider that can also be removed. This is a great option for projects using multiple skeins or to put large projects inside. I personally use mine when making blankets. Bonus points because it comes in all of my favorite colors!

These next options are best for grabbing a quick project on the go…and can literally be used while walking around! The Teamoy Knitting Tote Bag is a cute design (comes in different patterns) that hangs off of your arm.

Am I the only one who loves that fanny packs are back in style??? The Hanfetch Yarn Crossbody Waist Bag is cute and functional for yarn lovers! It has 2 grommets on top that you can pull your yarn through while keeping your skein safe and comes in a variety of patterns.

Scissors:

A reliable pair of scissors is an essential tool in any crocheter’s kit. I prefer small, sharp scissors like the HITOPTY Sewing Scissors Embroidery Scissors. They are only 4.5 inches, rose gold, and come with a closable sheath, which can easily fit into my project bag and trim yarn ends with precision.

For a super unique option, try the Clover Yarn Cutter Pendant! I have had mine for over a decade and am still in love! It is compact, wearable, safe, and adorable!

Other Notions:

Notions are all of the little extras that make a huge difference. Some are necessities and some just make life easier. Here are a few that I can’t live without…(I know, dramatic.)

Stitch markers are essential for keeping track of your progress, marking special stitches, or indicating the beginning of a round. When I need to place a stitch marker quickly, I always grab these open ring stitch markers.

The Boye Jumbo Stitch Markers are my go-to choice if I want to make sure they stay in place. They are bendable, easy to use, and have a convenient closure.

Measuring is important for keeping gauge and ensuring fit. A simple tape measure is always needed. This cute set of 2 is perfect for your project bag!

To make checking gauge fun and easy (when we decide to not actually skip this step) try this Clover Swatch Ruler & Needle Gauge! It makes finding your gauge effortless and can also tell you which size your hook or knitting needles are.

Ah, it’s time to weave in ends…I usually prefer to use metal yarn needles. This set is great, because there are multiple size needles for the different yarn weights.

My secret weapon are these Susan Bates Finishing Needles! They are a must if you have short yarn tails.

Crochet Hook and Notion Case:

If you’re like me, you are constantly searching for your hook. These cases help you keep all of your hooks and odds and ends together. The Damero Crochet Hook Case not only keeps your hooks secure but has zipper pouches for your small notions. (mulitple color/pattern options)

The Teamoy Crochet Hook Case is another great option! The roll bag is lightweight, easy to carry with you, and comes in gorgeous patterns.

For storing only hooks, I recommend this Boye Crochet Hook Organizer Case.

Lighting:

This one has been a huge help to me. The Glocusent LED Neck Reading Light makes it possible to not only crochet at night, but also makes it much easier to crochet with darker yarn. It points directly at your project and is rechargeable. Comes in fun colors too….which is always a plus for me.

Blocking:

For achieving professional-looking finished projects, blocking is crucial. Blocking mats and pins help shape and size your projects, especially when working with delicate fibers or intricate designs. I recommend the WooLove Blocking Mats for Wet and Steam Blocking with Grids and Radial Circles for Curved Projects. Includes 50 T-pins and a storage case.

The steamer that I have found works best for blocking is this BEAUTURAL Steamer.

Crochet Books:

Expanding your crochet knowledge is a never-ending adventure. I love exploring new patterns, stitches, and techniques through books. Here are a few of my favorites.
